Building more efficient homes – Nashville real estate

Working with Lighthouse builders has given me an opportunity to see quality construction evolve to meet the changing demands of Nashville real estate customers. One of the things on our minds when we buy a home is energy expense. Lighthouse builders homes have r30 insulation in the ceiling, r13 in the walls, insulation under the floor in the crawl space, Seer 13 HVAC units, and Anderson energy efficient windows. All of the plumbing and electrical holes in the flooring and walls are sealed tight with silicon to prevent any air (or bugs) from entering the home.

I managed to take a few pictures of a Lighthouse Builders home before the sheetrock was installed. In the first picture you see how the holes in the floor for the plumbing has been sealed. In the second picture, you see how the boards around the windows are all sealed with silicon to eliminate any conditioned air from escaping.

The reason for doing all of this is to keep the ongoing energy cost to a minimum. Over the years you will appreciate a home that’s built with attention to detail, instead of just put together as cheap as possible.

If you think everyone builds Nashville real estate homes this way, take a look at Michael Thornton’s blog on a condo that had been lived in for years without any insulation.

If you think a realtor should understand construction when helping you find a new home, you would be correct. Give me a chance to earn your business, it will save you money now and in the future. I help customers buy quality Nashville real estate. Give Larry Brewer a call at 615-512-7853.
